CHESS ACADEMY
In 2014 Town Club town club introduced 1st Chess Academy in the Chinsurah Sub-Division of Hooghly District which has generated a huge response and enthusiasm among the chess loving people. Starting with 10 students but presently around 50 students in our Chess Academy . Grand Master Surya Sekhar Ganguly visited our academy on 20th November 2016 with his wife and IM Sri Atanu Lahiri played a rapid chess with our chess academy students for whole day. They appriciated our good work and promissed to our chess academy students that whenever they will get spare times in their busy schedule they will visit and help our students. They both accepted Honorary Membership of our prestigious club.
Grand Master Sri Dibyendu Barua along with Hon’ble Minister of State for Sports Sri Laxmi Ratan Shukla visited in our “Aquamarina” 1st All Bengal Sub-Junior Rapid Chess Tournament which was organised by us. In their speach they appriciated our work about Chess Academy , and they also confirmed their help for our academy in coming days. It was great success and make huge enthusiasm for all chess loving people as well as for our Chess Academy students.
After sucessfully completed 1st year Chess Tournament again we organised “Aajkaal” 2nd All Bengal Sub Junior Rapid Chess Championship” in 2016-17 with 170 no of participants in that tournament. Honb’le Minister Sri Tapan Dasgupta and our Local MLA Sri Asit Mazumder inagurate the Tournament and they were very pleased to see our academy,and they both confirmed us any type of help regarding chess academy.
